Early Fight Example

Intro
Joe and Bloggins are both eager to continue their training, and are determined to test their mettle against one another in combat. Bowing to one another, they both adopt combat stances 5 Move apart. Bloggins has been wearing his Weighted Clothing for 10 months now, and so suffers a -10 penalty to his Fighting, Evasion, and Weapon skills while it is worn.

Round 1
Phase 1

  • Joe uses his Mental Control to try and convince Bloggins not to remove his Weighted Clothing.
    • Joe rolls 11, plus his Mind AT modifier of +2. for a total of 13.
    • Bloggins has a Mind AT modifier of +1. Joe reduces his total by 1, resulting in 12.
    • The GM rules that Bloggins keeping his Weighted Clothing on is something he'd rather not do, giving it a Competent (18) DV. Joe's Mental Control has failed.
  • Bloggins takes this chance to Power Up.
    • Bloggins has 10 ki activated, and 40 ki in reserve.
Phase 2
  • Joe Powers Up.
    • Joe has 6 ki activated, and 24 ki in reserve.
  • Bloggins closes the distance by moving towards Joe for 5 Move and attacks.
    • With a Fighting total of 55, less his Weighted Clothing penalty of 10, Bloggins has an AT modifier of +4. He rolls 13, for a total of 17.
    • Joe attempts to evade, rolling 9, plus his Evasion AT modifier of +4, for a total of 13.
    • The attack lands, dealing 30 dice of damage.
      • For Knockback, Joe rolls 13, plus his Body total of 17, for a total of 30. The attack does no Knockback.
      • Bloggins rolls his 30 dice, resulting in 170 damage to Joe, less 100 Defense, for 70 Hits lost.
Phase 3
  • Joe continues to Power Up.
    • Joe has 12 ki activated, and 18 ki in reserve.
  • Bloggins Powers Up as well in response.
    • Bloggins has 20 ki activated, and 30 ki in reserve.
Phase 4
  • Joe begins charging a Destructo Disk above his head.
    • Joe uses 8 ki, and decides to give the attack 4 Deadly Effect for a DV of 12.
    • Joe rolls 15, plus his Power AT modifier of +3, for a total of 18.
  • Seeing Joe's attack charging, Bloggins removes his Weighted Clothing.
    • Bloggins removes his Fighting, Evasion, and Weapon skill penalties of -10, then increasing them by +100.
  • Round 1 is over.
    • Joe recovers 7 Hits. 8 ki is recovered in his reserve, bringing his total reserve to 26 ki.
    • Bloggins has lost neither Hits nor ki. He recovers 0 for both.

Round 2
Phase 1

  • Both roll for initiative.
    • Joe rolls 7 plus his Mental of 10, for a total of 17.
    • Bloggins rolls 12 plus his Mental of 10, for a total of 22.
    • Bloggins chooses to move last this round.
  • Joe finishes charging his Destructo Disk.
    • Joe adds another 8 ki, but only needs to spend 4 ki.
    • The GM notes that Joe begins to glow.
    • Joe rolls 12, and his wild die is a 6. He rolls it again and gets 3, giving him a total roll of 15, plus his Power AT modifier of +3, for a total of 18.
    • Joe launches his 16 ki Destructo Disk with 8 Deadly Effect, having spent 12 ki to generate it.
      • Joe rolls 8, plus his Power AT modifier of +3, for a total of 11.
      • Bloggins evades, rolling 7, plus his Evasion AT of 12, for a total of 19. But Bloggins rolled a 1 on his wild die, so he automatically fails.
      • The Destructo Disk cuts through Bloggins, dealing 160 dice of damage.
        • Because of the Deadly Effect, no Knockback is incurred.
        • Joe rolls his 160 dice, resulting in 280 damage to Bloggins, and the Deadly Effect negates his 50 Defense, for 280 Hits lost.
  • Bloggins is reduced to -180 Hits, or 180% overkill of his total Hits.
    • The GM rules that Bloggins is cut in half and immediately killed.
    • Because Joe was reckless with how much power he was using in their training, he has accidentally killed his friend.

Experience
Joe receives 14 XP.

  • Bloggins' Base Power Level of 22,560, divided by Joe's Base Power Level of 16,090, multiplied by 10.
Bloggins receives 0 XP.
  • Because Bloggins did not survive, he does not receive any XP for the fight.
