Ki Guide

A character's Power total is how much ki they can spend. Once they've spent this much, they can't spend any more until they've rested.

A character can Power Up 20% of their Power total to add to their available ki in any given phase. A character can only Power Up once per action.
  • Think of this as a Bucket.
A character begins any given fight with no available ki. They must Power Up to draw ki in order to spend that ki on attacks and techniques.
  • Think of this as a Pool.
Ki is therefore drawn from the Well with the Bucket and placed in the Pool to be used.
  • Example: Bloggins has a Power total of 50. He finds himself in a fight with Joe, who has a Power total of 30. It's the beginning of the fight so neither warrior has any available ki.
    • Round 1, Phase 1: Bloggins Powers Up. He now has 10 ki available to spend on any actions.
      • Joe follows suit with his own Power Up. He now has 6 ki available to spend on any actions.
    • Round 1, Phase 2: Bloggins Powers Up some more. He now has 20 ki available to spend on any actions.
      • Joe spends his 6 ki. He now has none available to spend on any actions. He has a reserve of 24 ki left for this fight.
    • Round 1, Phase 3: Bloggins spends his 20 ki. He now has none available to spend on any actions. He has a reserve of 30 ki left for this fight.
      • Joe Powers Up again. He has 6 ki at his disposal again.
This can continue until one of the fighters has spent an amount of ki equal to their Power total. After that, they have none left until they spend time resting or meditating.
  • Note: Transformations and techniques which increase Power total will increase what is left in the Well, and what is available in the Pool.
    • Example: Joe has a Power total of 30. He powers up for one phase, giving him access to 6 ki (the pool), with 24 ki left in reserve (the well). Joe activates his Kaio Ken x5 Technique, increasing his Power total to 39. Of that, he has access to 6 ki (the pool), with 25 ki left in reserve (the well).
